Applications

Bitumen Grade 10/20 is suitable for various applications, including:

• Hot Mixed Asphalt: Its strong viscosity compared to other grades makes it ideal for hot mixed asphalt.

Hazard Identification

Bitumen Grade 10/20 is not classified as dangerous according to Directive 67/548/EEC or EC 1272/2008. Key hazards associated with asphalt include:

• Burn Risk: Hot materials can cause skin burns.
• Fume Inhalation: Fumes can pose risks in poorly ventilated spaces.
• Dust Exposure: While asphalt is not inherently dusty, respirable dust may be released during cutting or drilling of hardened asphalt, potentially leading to respiratory issues.

Fire Fighting Measures

• Suitable Extinguishing Media: Dry powder, foam.
• Unsuitable Extinguishing Media: Water and CO2.
• Special Exposure Hazards: Hydrocarbon fumes may be released during combustion.
• Protective Equipment: Firefighters should wear appropriate protective gear, including respirators.

Handling and Storage

• Handling: Avoid skin contact and inhalation of fumes. Ensure adequate ventilation and handle away from ignition sources.
• Storage: No special requirements; normal storage conditions apply.

Cleaning

• Tools: Clean with kerosene and gasoline.
• Hands: Use a hand cleanser or kerosene followed by soap and water.
