Applications

Bitumen Grade 85/100 is ideal for:

• Road Construction Projects: Particularly suitable for cold regions.
• Asphalt Mixes: Utilized in the production of various asphalt mixtures.
• Bitumen Emulsion: Applicable for some grades of bitumen emulsion.
• Cut-back Bitumen: Suitable for manufacturing cut-back bitumen.
• Modified Bitumen: Can be used to make modified bitumen products.

Hazard Identification

Bitumen Grade 85/100 is not classified as dangerous according to Directive 67/548/EEC or EC 1272/2008. Key hazards associated with asphalt include:

• Burn Risk: Hot materials can cause skin burns.
• Fume Inhalation: Fumes are generally safe in open air but can be hazardous in poorly ventilated areas.
• Dust Exposure: Cutting, drilling, or planning hardened asphalt can release respirable dust containing crystalline silica, which poses long-term health risks, including silicosis.

Fire Fighting Measures

• Suitable Extinguishing Media: Dry powder, foam.
• Unsuitable Extinguishing Media: Water and CO2 are not recommended.
• Special Exposure Hazards: Hydrocarbon fumes and other hazardous combustion products may be released.
• Protective Equipment: Firefighters should use appropriate protective gear, including respirators.

Handling and Storage

• Handling: Avoid skin contact and fume inhalation. Ensure adequate ventilation if vapor formation is a risk. Keep away from ignition sources. Do not smoke, eat, or drink during use.
• Storage: Typically used upon receipt; no special storage requirements. Refer to the product’s technical data sheet for specific details.

Cleaning

• Tools: Clean with kerosene and gasoline.
• Hands: Use a hand cleanser or kerosene followed by soap and water.
